The Netley Estate, Salop

Mr Thomas Henry Hope-Edwards commissioned Mr John Treasure to erect a mansion or dwelling house at Netley to the design of architect Edward Haydock on 6th December 1855. The original parchment contract can be viewed in Shrewsbury’s Library Records and Research Department showing exact details of the construction and materials used. Mr Treasure created a magnificent home and outstanding landscaped grounds for the Hope-Edwards family which, thanks to their careful stewardship and very little alteration over the years, survives today in a form which is close to the original design. The Estate grounds cover an extensive 160 acres.
